Second Sunday of Advent

Luke 3:1-6

When John heard this passage from Isaiah, he immediately identified with it and saw himself as this emissary preparing people’s hearts to receive Jesus. He looked around and saw people’s value systems off target. All of society was going in the wrong direction. John was able to see clearly what needed to be done and he set out to do it, preparing the way of the Lord. Do we see ourselves as someone who has the responsibility to let the world know about Jesus Christ? Are our eyes and ears open to the scripture that we can respond as John did when he heard the words of Isaiah?
