Feast of Saints Perpetua and Felicity
Matthew 5:17-19
During his public ministry, Jesus was often accused of violating the law, with the intent to destroy it. Jesus actually had more respect for the law than did his critics. It is the eternal truth about right and wrong. To keep it is wise; to break it is foolish; to destroy it is impossible. Jesus said that his purpose was to fulfill the law. He did this in two ways. Number one, he kept it; he lived by it. He ignored the petty rules of the Pharisees, but he honored and obeyed the moral law of God.
