Feast of the Immaculate heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Luke 2:41-51
Mary is the Mother of God, but she is also the mother of a lost boy, and she is responsible for him and she loves him, and so she goes looking for him. The Mother of God was not insulated from being a human being. She lived by faith and that is why she is not afraid of being afraid. She say’s so tenderly: “your father and I have sought you sorrowing.” It is as if she and Joseph were now drawn so much closer together in their sorrow. It is as though searching for Christ is what made them a family, a community. And Mary kept all these things in her heart, pondering over them.
