Mark 12:13-17

The Pharisees and Herodians were obsessed with knowing the answers to every question or moral dilemma. Time and again they tied themselves up in philosophical knots until they became entangled in the detail. Knowledge is a good thing until it becomes knowledge for its own sake, until it becomes a pointless and distracting game, or we use it to judge or constrain others. Knowledge and wisdom are to be found in the word of God, but only when it is absorbed with open, honest and humble hearts.
