Matthew 5:33-37

“Say YES when you mean YES and NO when you mean NO. Anything beyond that is from the evil one.” Promise-keeping is the foundation of personal and social existence. If we cannot trust people to keep their word, then there is no basis for civil law, for business dealings, for personal friendships, or for family life. For that reason, in a court of law people are asked to swear that they are telling the truth. Not being able to trust someone is a very uncomfortable situation. It puts everyone on guard. That is not how Jesus wants us to live. How can I change my life? How can I improve my level of trust?
