Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Mark 7:1-8,14-15,21-23
Our gospel reading for today tells of a classic confrontation between Jesus and the Pharisees. And the focus of their disagreement had to do with what they considered a violation of a religious tradition. Giving a Divine origin to human traditions is where we run into problems. We need to be sure that our understanding of our faith is not based on mere human tradition. If we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus Christ and the scriptures and deepen the faith aspect of our lives, we can be sure that religion will not get disconnected from real life. And we will become what God intended us to be.
