St. Luke
Luke 10:1-9
Today we celebrate the feast of Luke the Evangelist. Luke’s name does not appear in the Gospel that bears his name, but we find him mentioned in a number of other places in the New Testament. We know that Luke accompanied the apostle Paul on his missionary journeys. Luke was a physician, so as Paul’s traveling companion he probably saw after his medical needs. Luke was faithful and stayed with Paul every step of the way. He suffered with Paul in times of adversity and he rejoiced with Paul in times of triumph. Luke was an ideal friend and companion. Can we be this kind of friend to others in need?
