Luke 21:20-28

Jesus foretells the beginning of the end for Jerusalem. There will be signs in the heavens. The effect on humans is powerful. It is an anxiety-ridden time for those humans who are on the earth. We see several Greek words that indicate the terror which will result. The Greek word aporia means anxiety, or hearts failing. The Greek word apopsucho literally means to stop breathing.  Finally, Jesus, the Son of Man, appears. Now he is rejected and despised by man, abused and spat on, but then he shall come in glory — great glory, the glory of God Himself, shall shine around him at his coming.
