Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Mark 13:24-32

This passage is probably of the most Jewish sections of the New Testament where Jesus adopted the language of apocalyptic. This was typical of the language of Jesus’ times. But he himself said that we know not the day nor the hour so I like to interpret this in the present moment which with daily practice will prepare us for that second coming.  I would like to see today’s Gospel as a reminder of the “coming” of God that we tend to forget in the ordinary events of our lives. We must learn to recognize and welcome Him in these everyday occurrences be they happy, encouraging, painful or disappointing or even catastrophic.  And as to the exact day or hour no one knows.
