Jesus did his best to prepare his disciples for the difficult days that lay ahead for him and for them. He did not want them to grieve his death as if he were gone forever. Second, he tried to warn them that they would fall heir to the same hostility he experienced. We as Christians are no strangers to misguided religiosity. The Crusades and Inquisition cloud our church history. We all need to recall the words: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
