Pentecost Sunday
John 20:19-23
What is the main difference with the disciples’ experience before and after Pentecost? No, it’s not the flames dancing on their heads, improved communication skills, or that wind-blown look. In a word, it is courage. They lost their fear of what might happen, who might criticize or object to their message. These people were so filled with God’s Spirit that they had to do just what God does: speak life into the world. So they proclaimed that word till the end of their lives, to their own executions, to their grave. But they also left behind a Church that could shoulder the burden of that message to the ends of the earth and to the end of time. And we are that Church continuing the message.
