John 16:23-28

“Whatever you ask the Father, he will give you in my name.”In this gospel Jesus is saying: You can go to God because God loves you. Jesus did not die to change God into love – but to remind us that God is love. He came not because God so hated the world – but because God so loved the world. The gospel today is reminding us in a very simple and straightforward way that in everything there is the love of God – and we never could have known that if Jesus had not told us so. Jesus brought to us the love of God.
