Feast of St. Damien de Veuster

John 16:16-20

Some picture Jesus as a political rebel, others as a mystic visionary, others as a talented healer, and still others as a rustic sage. The truth of the matter is that all these “images” of Jesus can be found in the New Testament. Some may find this variety disturbing, but it need not be upsetting to faith. Like some splendid gem, Jesus is multi‑faceted. He shows different sides of his truth to those who approach him in different ways. Each time we see Jesus again, we learn something that we had not known before.
