Luke 11:29-32

Jesus rebukes the “fellowship of excitement” that surrounded him, constantly awaiting fresh wonders, new stimulation to certify the “real” presence of the Spirit. He told the crowds the only sign they needed was the sign of Jonah. The presence of the Christ and the sign of the resurrection are evidence enough. To seek “excitement,” even if great crowds come seeking it, is not discipleship but doubt, masquerading as faith. In other words, crowds do not always mean success. At least, not for the cause of Jesus
