St. Augustine of Canterbury –
My friends, the kingdom of God is not some heavenly resort reserved for those who are physically fit, financially solvent, and morally respectable. It is a family of faith that cares for all of God’s children especially those who are down and out and desperate. As followers of Jesus, as Christians, this could be our motto: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”
