USCSI REFLECTIONS

Monday of Holy Week –

In today’s gospel Jesus teaches us how to receive, a lesson that is perhaps more difficult to learn than to give, and it is not an isolated example. In this most Holy Week we see the ‘passivity’ of Jesus. Mary anoints his feet. Jesus is led out of the garden and to his trial “Like a lamb he is led to the slaughter.” He is scourged and crowned, he is nailed to a cross. Christian tradition gives us the example of Veronica wiping his face. It is the passivity of Jesus.
