Thursday of the Third Week of Lent –
The enemies of Jesus were desperate to find some way of discrediting him in the eyes of the common folk. They saw him as a threat to their power and position. A clear implication of Jesus’ argument against his enemies was that good can overpower evil. Do we really believe that the evils of our society could be eliminated if enough good men and women set out to change things for the better? We settle too quickly and too easily for the imperfections that mar our society and our souls.
