Jesus never expected God to shelter him from trouble. From the beginning of his ministry he recognized that his commitment to God the Father would lead to suffering. And still he remained committed. In the Garden of Gethsemane, he prayed: Father let this cup pass me by, but what saved the world was the second half of that statement, yet not my will but yours be done. The activity of God is everywhere and always present, but it is visible only through the eyes of faith. For every moment of our lives reveals God to us.
