The Baptist’s model, “He must increase, I must decrease,” is not easy to follow. We all know how much easier it is to make gods, as it were, of our ideas, our needs, our reputation, our comfort. Yet we all know the emptiness in this kind of living. We all know the importance of relying on the Lord rather than on our own emptiness and weakness. Christianity might not be the popular way of living but then again, who said it ever should be?
