St. Rose of Lima – Pray for us! – 

The scribes and Pharisees are damned by Jesus because they are hypocrites; they say one thing but do something else. In other words, they are living contradictions. They make religious observance a farce. They are leaders who do not lead. They convert others to corruption. They are the blind leading the blind in making and keeping promises to God.
