Tuesday of Holy Week –
Peter did not fail simply because he was weak. He failed because he did not acknowledge his weakness. He made the tragic mistake of overestimating his strength and underestimating this challenge. He was absolutely confident of his devotion to Christ and knew that he could never fail, but he did. This is a lesson for everyone: self-confidence is a good thing but beware of overconfidence. That which happened to Peter could happen to any of us. We are subject to all the weaknesses of the flesh. Our strength is in the Lord. If we ever forget that, we are in trouble
