Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

John 6:41-51

In the Gospel, Jesus said of himself that he is the living bread come down from heaven. Jesus speaks of assimilation when he says if we eat of this bread we will live forever. Jesus was a perfect imitation of the Father. Now he offers himself as our spiritual food. If we eat of this bread his personality can be assimilated into our personalities, so that we become like him and so it becomes quite obvious that in Jesus we can imitate the Father. We can be imitators of God as his dear children.
