John 13:1-15
The eternal Son of God acted like a Gentile slave. Kneeling, the One who could beckon the stars to do his bidding, had washed their feet! Royalty had stooped to wash the feet of subjects. What more dramatic way could he have illustrated his own words, “Whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first, must be your slave”?
